A Clown's Surprise! Cake

Step 1

Bake and cool cake; trim off hose area. Roll out dough. Using pattern, trace hat and cut out; bake and cool. Ice cake sides and background areas smooth.

Step 2

Outline shoes, pants, coat, face and hands with tip 3. Cover pants, coat, face hands and shirt with tip 16 stars.

Step 3

Pipe in shoes with tip 8 (pat smooth with finger dipped in corn starch).

Step 4

Pipe in cuffs with tip 4 (pat smooth with finger dipped in corn starch).

Step 5

Pipe tip 6 dot eyes and scallop mouth. Add tip 8 ball nose. Pipe tip 3 dot pupils and string smile line.

Step 6

Pipe tip 4 dot buttons and tip 8 bow tie. Decorate pant cuffs with tip 16 lines.

Step 7

Pipe tip 8 hat band (pat smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch).

Step 8

Cover hat with tip 16 stars Add tip 6 bead flower with tip 3 stem.

Step 9

Insert lollipop stick in top of cake to support hat; position hat. Add tip 16 pull-out star hair.

Step 10

Pipe tip 6 ball bottom border. Add balloons and curling ribbon.
