3D Holiday Cookie Scene

Step 1

Make cookies. Prepare dough and roll out 3/16 in. thick. Cut out all four cookies using cutters from set. Bake and cool completely.

Step 2

Prepare royal icing. Tint portions blue, light green, green, red, yellow, brown, black and orange; reserve some white.

Step 3

Decorate snowman cookie. Use tip 3 and full-strength white icing to outline and fill in snowman body. Use spatula to smooth over cookie.

For hat, use tip 3 and full-strength black icing to outline and fill in. Pat smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch. Use tip 3 and full-strength red icing to pipe hatband. Use tip 3 and full-strength black icing to build up rim.

For scarf, use tip 3 and full-strength red icing to pipe scarf. Pat smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch.

For details, use tip 3 and full-strength black icing to pipe dot buttons. Use tip 3 and full-strength orange icing to pipe outline nose using heavy to light pressure. Use tip 1 and full-strength black icing to pipe eyes and eyelashes. Use tip 2 and full-strength black icing to pipe smile.

Use tip 3 and full-strength white icing to outline around snowman. Let dry until set.

Step 4

Decorate tree with star. Use tip 3 and full-strength green icing to outline and fill in cookie. Use spatula to smooth.

For star, use tip 3 and full-strength yellow icing to outline and fill in. Use spatula to smooth. Use tip 2 and full-strength white icing to outline and pipe dots and details.

For trunk, use tip 3 and full-strength brown icing to outline and fill in. Pat smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch.

For details, use tip 3 and full-strength green icing to outline tree and sections. Use tip 3 and full-strength red icing to pipe dot ornaments. Let set until dry.

Step 5

Decorate small tree. Use tip 3 and full-strength light green icing to outline and fill in cookie. Use spatula to smooth.

For trunk, use tip 3 and full-strength brown icing to outline and fill in. Pat smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch.

For details, use tip 3 and full-strength light green icing to outline tree and sections. Use tip 3 and full-strength red icing to pipe dot ornaments. Let set until dry.

Step 6

Decorate snowflake base. Use tip 3 and full-strength blue icing to outline and fill in snowflake. Use spatula to smooth. Use tip 3 and full-strength white icing to outline and pipe details. Let set until dry.

Step 7

Build scene. Use tip 3 and full-strength white icing to attach snowman and trees to snowflake cookie base. Let set until dry.
