Rated 1 out of 5 by from I agree with several others who commented that, while good in theory, the Wilton Icing Smoother is poor in execution. The location of the handle in the middle of the scraper makes it awkward to hold at best. When I went to scrape the excess icing off of it, I got icing all over my hands and most of the icing was still on the scraper. I bought cheap spackling paddles at Lowe's Home Improvement that work better than Wilton's Smoother. I think if the surface area was larger and the handle located on one end this tool would be more effective. It also might help to have ruler measurements on one end, like a pastry scraper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The icing smoother is currently out of stock, but AS SOON as it is available to order I WILL be ordering two of them! At work I have to use the flimsy little plastic "scrapers" that we order from decopac. They do not provide a smooth finish on the cakes because the plastic gets warped from being over used and stored with the metal utensils and tools that we use in the bakery. I will be able to use this item at work, and TAKE IT HOME with me at the end of my shift so there will be NO risk of it getting ruined. I will also be using it at home for the decorating that I do at home.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The whole idea of it is great and it is an item that Wilton certainly needs to have in their line, but having that purple grip in the middle makes it very difficult to handle properly. It may be because I am used to using smoothers that are like bench scrapers but I dont find that there is enough metal space to properly smooth the icing. I would like it more if it was at the end of one side or at least 3/4 of the way.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from While the idea is great, the design is not. I love the height of this, but the purple grip is in the way when you want to clean the blade on the edge of the bowl-and clean we must if we want a professional finish. Perhaps Wilton should make the smoother much wider with the grip close to one side and even better add measurements on the icing edge(like the bench scraper). That way cleaning the blade would be easy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is not bad for a smoother but how about making it better and easier especially for beginners by making it like an upside down "L" shape, an adjustable, upside down "L" shape, so as you are smoothing the side, you are also smoothing the top as you glide the smoother on the side of the cake. That corner part of the cake is somewhat frustrating when it comes to smoothing it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice piece of scrappers....BUT a little TOO big to handle when icing a cake..(thats just my oppinion) I bought this unit thinking that its easy to comb out the sides of cream cheese? a metal comb works just a well... although ALL the item's that I have bought over the years from wilton...are far more work-able than other bakery stores on line...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The idea is great, however one thing that would help is to have measurement markings on one side. I currently use a bench scraper that has the markings and it really is helpful to determine if the sides of the iced cake are the same all the way around.. Make getting a really flat level top easier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I was so excited to purchase this tool. It has taken a lot of practice to get comfortable using it but it does a nice job. It would be easier to work with if it was a little lighter to hold and it would be awesome if they had included a level bubble to help gauge if you are holding it straight.
