Hats Off to Christmas! Cookies

A fun project to do with the kids on a blustery snow day, these Hats Off to Christmas! Cookies are just as fun to decorate as they are to eat! Serve these cute Christmas hats after your holiday feast or use them to celebrate anyone whose birthday happens to fall around the holiday season. Speaking of birthday, you could even customize these hats to be any color you’d like, making them great for birthday parties that happen anytime of year! Since these cookies are decorated with thinned flow-in icing, they will need time to dry, so be sure to allow for extra time to let the icing set.

What a great look you can achieve when you flow in dots, swirls or other designs to wet color flow sections. The design dries into your iced top for a more exciting treat.

The Zigzag is a popular way to fill in outlined areas, perfect for ribbed sweater and cuff effects. You can also use tight zigzags to cover the entire side of your cake—they look great!

The ball shape makes bold borders and is the first step to learn for figure piping. Vary the basic look by adding stars, dots or spirals on the ball shapes.
