Start 2017 on a sweet note with these Happy New Year 2017 Cupcakes! Made using melted Candy Melts candy, these simple and elegant cupcakes are great for New Year’s parties! The great thing about this cupcake project is that it can be adapted for every year, so you can come back to this fun and sparkly idea again and again! A simple enough project for beginning decorators, these fun cupcakes work up quickly and are great for anyone looking to learn cake decorating in the coming year!
Bake cupcakes. Prepare batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool cupcakes in white cupcake liners.
Pipe letters. Cover cake circle with wax paper. Melt Peanut Butter candy according to package instructions. Prepare parchment bag with melted candy; cut small hole in tip. Using melted Peanut Butter candy, pipe numbers, about ½ in. high, on wax paper-covered board.
Chill until set, about 5 minutes. Using paper, carefully remove numbers from wax paper. Set aside.
Pipe plaque. Cover cake circle with wax paper. Melt Light Cocoa candy according to package instructions. Prepare parchment bag with melted candy; cut small hole in tip. Using melted Light Cocoa candy, pipe zig-zag plaque, about 1 ½ in. x 2 ½ in. in size.
Top with Gold Stars accents. Let sit at room temperature, about 1 to 2 minutes.
Assemble plaques.Add numbers to plaques.
Chill until set, about 5 minutes. In small bowl, spray Gold Color Mist. Using decorating brush, paint numbers gold.
Decorate cupcakes. Prepare decorating bag with tip 1M and white icing. Pipe swirl on cupcakes. Top with gold sugars. Position plaques on top of cupcakes.
