Step 1

Bake and cool cake.

Step 2

Using spatula, ice sides smooth with white buttercream. On the top of the cake, ice two-thirds with sky blue buttercream; ice remaining one-third with leaf green buttercream.

Step 3

For the body of the caterpillar, use punch with Large Circle Cutting Insert to cut three circles from Bright Pink Sugar Sheets! and two circles from Purple Sugar Sheets! Arrange on cake. For mouth, use scissors to cut a thin, curved strip from Black Sugar Sheets! Brush back of strip with piping gel, and attach to face.

Step 4

For the eyes, use the wide end of tip 2A to cut circles from White Sugar Sheets! Draw pupil with black FoodWriter. Brush back of eyes with piping gel and attach to face.

Step 5

For antenna, use Rotary Cutter to cut two strips, 1 1/4 in. long x 1/4 in. wide, from Bright Pink Sugar Sheets! Attach to cake.

Step 6

Using the wide end of tip 2A, cut two circles from Bright Pink Sugar Sheets! Attach to end of antennae with piping gel.

Step 7

For the legs, use Rotary Cutter to cut eight strips, 1 1/4 in. long x 1/4 in. wide, from Black Sugar Sheets! For feet, use the wide end of tip 2A to cut eight circles from Black Sugar Sheets! Attach feet to legs with piping gel. Attach legs to body by tucking legs underneath circles.

Step 8

For clouds, use border punch with Bubbles Border Cutting Insert, to cut cloud shapes from White Sugar Sheets! Turn sheet around and cut again to form cloud. Draw details using blue FoodWriter. Place on sky part of cake.

Step 9

For name, use letter cutters from cutter set and black FoodWriter to trace letters onto back side of Bright Yellow Sugar Sheets! Cut out with scissors. Use FoodWriter markers to add accents to letters. Using buttercream, attach letters to cake, overlapping some clouds.

Step 10

For grass, use border punch with Diamonds Border Cutting Insert to cut border from Light Green Sugar Sheets! Draw details using green FoodWriter. Attach to cake, by inserting, at an angle, into buttercream.

Step 11

For cake sides, use punch with Small Circle Cutting Insert to cut out circles from Bright Yellow, Bright Pink and Purple Sugar Sheets! Attach randomly to sides of cake with piping gel.

Step 12

Use tip 18 and white buttercream to pipe shell bottom border.
