Birthdays are just beachy when you celebrate with the sunny shades of our fl ip-flop themed treats! With easy fondant accents and
refreshing colors, the cookies follow in the footsteps of the cake for an exciting look any time of year.
Make cookies. Prepare and roll out cookie
dough following recipe directions. Use
sandal cutter from 3-pc. summer colored
metal set to cut flip-flop pairs; reverse cutter
for opposite side. Bake and cool cookies.
Ice cookies. Prepare royal icing following
recipe directions. Tint portions lemon yellow,
leaf green, rose, violet/rose combination
(for violet) and orange/creamy peach
combination (for orange). Use tip 3 and full strength
icing to outline sandals in desired
colors. Let dry 5 to 10 minutes. Use thinned
icing in cut parchment bag to flow in cookies.
For blue, green and rose cookies, use tip
3 and thinned icing in a different color to
immediately pipe dots, stripes or waves. Let
all cookies dry on parchment paper-covered
boards for 24 hours.
1 DAY IN ADVANCE
Make straps and accents. Follow
instructions for Circle of Sandals cake, to decorate a pair of sandal cookies
in each color with straps and accents. Tint
fondant with icing colors as above, using a
3/4 in. ball in each color for each pair.
All straps are the same width used on the
cake but are cut to 1 3/4 in. long. Use piping
gel to attach all straps and accents.
