Attach branches. Use tweezers to attach full-length first row branches 1/2 in. from bottom of tree. Branches should be 1/4 in. apart, with ends 1/2 in. from cake surface. Use tip 3 and white icing to secure branches to tree, if needed. Continue attaching branches around cake.
For second row, trim branches to 3/4 in. Attach branches 1/8 in. above first row, between first row branches. Continue attaching branches 1/4 in. apart around cake. Repeat this step for third, fourth, fifth and sixth rows.
For remaining rows, trim branches to 5/8 in. Attach branches 1/4 in. apart, to cover cake.
HINT: Make a paper template for sizing the branches in each row. Use a full-size branch for first row, a 3/4 in. branch for rows 2 through 6 and a 5/8 in. branch for remaining rows.
