Eat their brains! These cookies give any Halloween party a family-fiendish tone! The ghastly green, gray, purple and orange shades are easy to achieve using the Wilton Color Right Performance Color System.
Use Color Right base colors and QuickCount color formulas to tint royal icing in the following shades:
? Halloween Gray: 2 cups white royal icing + 7 BK + 1 P + 1 B + 1 C
? Halloween Green: 2 cups white royal icing + 25 Y + 1 B + 1 BR
Also, for smaller amounts, tint the following ultra-concentrated colors:
1. Use Color Right base colors and QuickCount color formulas to tint royal icing in the following shades:
? Teal Green: 1/4 cup white royal icing + 23 B + 7 Y + 6 BR
? Halloween Orange: 1/4 cup white royal icing + 14 O + 2 P + 4 C
? Halloween Purple: 1/4 cup white royal icing + 35 P + 7 B + 8 C + 2 BK
? Halloween Blue: 1/4 cup white royal icing + 17 B + 6 C + 4 P
? Neutral Black: 1/4 cup white royal icing + 70 BK
2. Mix ultra-concentrated royal icing with white royal icing.
? For all shades, mix each ultra-concentrated icing with 1 cup white royal icing.
Reserve 1/4 cup icing white.
Make cookies at least 1 day in advance.
Use cutters to cut cookie dough. Bake and cool.
Prepare icing for decorating.
Tint royal icing following color formulas above. Thin portions of each color except black and set aside.
Prepare six disposable decorating bags with couplers and tip 3. Fill bags separately with full-strength gray, green, teal green, orange, blue and purple icing.
Outline and fill in cookies.
Use tip 3 and full-strength icing to outline faces in gray or green and hair in desired color.
Prepare six disposable decorating bags and fill separately with thinned icings to match faces and hair. Cut small point off bag. Fill in outlined areas with matching color icing. Let dry 8-12 hours.
Prepare a decorating bag with coupler and fill with black icing. Prepare a second decorating bag with tip 2 and white icing.
Decorate face details with full-strength black icing. Pipe tip 1 scars, tip 2 mouths, inside ears and nostrils, tip 3 dot small eyes, tip 5 dot medium eyes and tip 10 dot large eyes. Flatten and smooth eyes with finger dipped in cornstarch. Pipe tip 2 white eye highlights.
Overpipe hair areas with tip 3 outlines in matching colors. Pipe tip 5 bead bows with tip 3 dot knots in full-strength blue or purple icing.
