CakesByJune 10/05/2012 11:23 AM
Does anyone know how to make a spider web to be used in a grave yard Halloween theme cake? To make it look realistic? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

I been away for so long that what better way to come back then to make Halloween cake for my Husband's work He's a sales consultant at Access Ford

Thank You
June

I would pipe it with black Candy Melts and then place it where you want. You could brush it with luster dust to add some spidery shimmer. Make extra so if one breaks you'll be all set.

What about using circles of black piping gel and drag a toothpick through it.

Kathy, that is a brilliant idea..I would have never thought of that!
I have attched a pic of one of my cakes..I used melted isomalt to make random threads. It's not perfect but looked neat I think.
I really like Kathy's idea of candy melts, that way you can control thickness of the strings.

Another one I have seen is to use cotton candy. Just "shred" it to thickness and length and it looks amazingly real!!!! It is all edible of course too!
