My cousin has asked me to make her daughter a cake with a high heel on it. I will do it with either gp or chocolate candy clay. I know to include cost of materials but how much to charge for it since this will be my first one and have a huge learning curve, thus take quite a bit more time to do it. Any suggestions?

I would estimate your time at and hourly rate and divide by half. If its a learning process you will be slow compared to when you have this down pat.

I charge $15 per fondant/gumpaste shoe. But since this is your firt try and for a family member, maybe you can charge her for the cake and do the shoe at no additional cost? You get to try the shoe and she will be happy to save a few bucks.Make sure you tell her that you didn't charge her extra...Or $15 atleast!:-)
