I got on here last night in distress over my over-baked sheet cake layer. The sides softened up today, but I don't want to use it. The cake fairy is with me because the girl called me on the way home from the hospital & said she would pick it up tomorrow morning. I'm baking another layer right now. How long does a 9x13 layer really take to cool? I have family (surprise visit) in town today. I want to get the cake done asap. I've had the weekend from you know what so far. Thanks!

I would say at least 1 hour. If there is room in the fridge that might speed it up some.
