Topic: Spray on Color for Fondant

I have a question about Fondant. I am making a Walrus out of Rice Krispie Treats and covering it with fondant and want to color it brown. It would be ideal to use the Wilton Spray Color in brown but I don't believe that is available, so I'm looking for alternative ways. I know I can just use brown icing color but would love to give it some depth. I really don't want to get into air brushing. Any suggestions?

Why not knead brown coloring into the fondant?

I can...just looking for depth to make more real.

How about using a veining tool to get some depth on you fondant that way? You can use it to make little hair like marks on the fondant by using soft to medium pressure and making lines like individual hairs.

I'm new to fondant...that's a great idea. That would probably help to make a lot of the creases that a walrus has too. Thanks.

No problem! It is a very easy thing to do, especially for someone who is new to fondant and its very hard to mess up! Be sure to post pictures!

i would try making it with different shades of brown and maybe the different shades of chocolate that come in the multi color pack. I think that would help with depth.
