I am making my first cake this weekend! It's a checkerboard cake, but I want the yellow cake part to be pink. I'm having a hard time finding pink food coloring. Can Wilton icing colors be used in a cake batter?? Let me know please! Thanks!

Yes they can! I made the checkerboard cake for Easter. Instead of coloring it pink though, I just used strawberry cake. I colored a French Vanilla mix with golden yellow and lavender Wilton gel pastes. Wilton makes a Rose Pink that would look pretty.

You'll need 2 mixes to get all 3 pans full!

That's REALLY pretty! I had never thought of coloring the batter of a checkerboard cake!
