Michael's (where I take the Wilton decorating classes) just started carrying a new line of cake products. Has anyone tried the Duff fondant? I know Wilton's fondant isn't good, but it seems most people on forums (like here & Cake Central) seem to really like the taste of Satin Ice & I do too. I was curious how the Duff brand compares.

is it pretty easy to work with? I might have to go and get some. I have a coupon and nothing to use it on.

of course it's a tad bit hard at first..it's wrap in a plastic bag but nuck it in the microwave for a couple of seconds or knead it for a bit and it will be fine.

I's really good!!! I absolutely love the black. It tastes (to me) like butterscotch...well, it has a butterscotchy taste. It's pricey where I live...$29.99 for a 2lb tub. Gota love those coupons!!

sweetgrandma i couldn't agree more...i will only buy the black because it's hard for me to color anything black...but what i will start doing is adding cheesecake flavoring to my fondant or use the same flavoring in my fondant as my buttercream.

I needed black so I thought I'd try it. After I stuck it in the micro I thought it was very easy to work with. Almost a soft and smooth texture. The smell was really good, but I love the flavor of mine better, which is bunnywomans. I would buy black and red again, but only with a coupon.

Duff's fondant is the Fondarific brand. You can sample 5 flavors for only $6 if you are interested!

I went to the Fondarific site and ordered. It shipped super fast through Paypal and came in a 2 lb tub with 5 plastic packages of neatly labeled fondant strips. I tasted wedding white buttercream, vanilla, chocolate, coffee (although I requested chocolate mocha) and buttercream.

Tasty as far as fondant goes! It was in my metal mailbox and it's so hot outside. The fondant was super soft and a touch greasy at that temp.

I bought some of the black, don't really care for the taste - it is better than Wilton, but just barely! I probably will buy some again, as I am making a penguin cake, and I don't want to try to color MMF black, but otherwise, I don't think I will use it if I can help it. Even with a 50% off coupon, it still seems over-priced to me.

Duff's fondant is FANTASTIC! I had never used fondant before, but it along with my own homemade buttercream made for a cake that everyone raved over. The two frostings complimented each other beautifully, and it was very easy to use. I am stocking up on the Duff's. Just in case it isn't carried when I need it! LOL
