Has anyone ever tried a Kangaroo cake??? and if yes, how did you do it??

I'm totally new to cake making but could this be a job for Rice Krispy treats? You could maybe do the top part (head and upper body) out of RKT and the bottom part (lower body and pouch) out of cake. Cover with fondant or frosting.

This may be a totally crazy way to do it, but it's the first thing I thought of. I'm sure the more experienced cakers here will have other ideas.
