Help! I love the recipe for marshmallow fondant - - it tastes fabulous! However, everytime I try to roll it out to a size bigger than a 9" cake, it sticks to my surface. I've been rolling it out on my granite countertop dusted with powdered sugar. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions?

Try cornstarch.

Does it work better than the powder sugar? I made sure that I kept powdering the surface while rolling and it still stuck.

icing sugar can become sticky, corn starch does not.

I would suggest kneading in more PS into the fondant to make it less sticky. I like the cornstarch on the working surface, but it can dry your fondant if you aren't too careful.

I roll my fondant out on silicone mats dusted with powederd sugar. Two weeks ago I needed to roll out really large pieces of fondant and the sugar wasn't cuttin' it. I then spread Crisco all over my mats and on the counter top...it was a REALLY big piece of fondant about 24"X24". Crisco is my new best friend when I roll out fondant!

I LOVE the CRISCO idea. I'm going to try it tonight so I can practice before making this cake this weekend!

Do you just put the crisco, or do you grease with crisco then cover with sugar or corn starch?

lexmax - you wouldn't use powdered sugar, or cornstarch if you used Crisco

Very lightly cover your surface with the Crisco, and roll away

Lex .... it is awesome! Always lightly rub my working surfaces (and my palms) with Crisco before rolling, whether its is MMF or Gumpaste.
