Does anyone know how to get "birch bark" look on white fondant? I'm guessing I just streak it with brown/black gel color? Any tips?

I think I read somewhere (don't remember where though ) that one of those woodgrain tools from the DIY store to get the texture, & then the color can be either painted on, or you can color the fondant

What about using the blunt side of a knife to make the woodgrain?

I tried the blunt side of a knife and I tried toothpicks dipped in brown. Then painted on watered down brown. Looks decent, but not sure if it's great. Thanks anyway ladies!

Fantastic! It really looks like bark. I guess a decorating comb wouldn't work. Lovegrace, just for future referrence, here is a comb. http://slice-heaven.com/store/show/35-1446
