I find doing an image search on the internet helps with finding cake ideas. I typed in "nurse cake" and came up with some that might be doable for you:

(the hat could be made out of paper if you are not used to working with fondant)

Hope this gives you some ideas.

I also found a couple of images of nurses cakes.

http://www.kathyskakes.com/graduation_cakes.htm (Both are pretty involved!)

And one on Wilton's discussion forum- http://www.wilton.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=4&threadid=84095

(The jpeg ID'ed as "renea" is the one. This one is much more do-able especially for a beginner. If you can't find this link do a search with stylishbite as the author and nurse as the subject under discussion forum.)

I have a cookie cutter that's the shape of a nurses cap- it has a separate smaller cutter that's a cross. I use them for the cookies and the fondant to top and decorate them. I also use the top edge of the cap cutter to make small black stripes of fondant so I can put stripes instead of crosses. I'm working on some cookies right now for Nurse's Week in May- hope to be able to post a picture soon.

My daughter and I need to make a cake for next Sat for an RN graduation. I got on too look for ideas, but our idea is to take a T-shirt pan an make pants from a rectangle and make scrubs. Thought it could be simple and just put his name and RN on the fake pocket.
