If I ever get stumped I just google ,suitcase cakes,and then hit images in the top left corner and look at all kinds of different cakes,thats how I get my ideas,I try not to copycat,most of the time,I will open a word doc below and when I see one I like I copy and paste and I will do this for 10 cakes and take alittle something from the ones I like best.here is my suitcase,it was my very first cake I every done and I havent took any classes,I just looked at pictures and done whatever,lol
I agree with adding gum paste to the fondant. Fondant alone won't hold up. You also have the option of adding either tylose powder or gum tex to the fondant instead. The handles may require a not edible component, such as wire. Good luck!
