Topic: Did I mess this up?

I made my first FBCT this morning. Fingers crossed it turns out ok! I used half butter, half shortening. I used the remainder of the buttercream to frost the cake. It seems very sticky and not crusting as much as my all shortening recipe. Did I mess up by using the butter/shortening on the cake?

I just frosted a few minutes ago so maybe I'm jumping the gun... But would be interested to hear your thoughts/experiences. Thanks!

I use butter/shortening in my icing bc all the time. Give it a little more time to crust up!

Use half butter half shortening all the time also, not a problem.

Phew! Thanks for the feedback. It is crusting now. The textures are so different between the recipes.

I use 50/50 too all of the time and I have no problem with it crusting.
