Already have some white buttercream made and want to make it into chocolate buttercream without starting over. Help today would be great since I'm decorating the cake today (last minute order)

You can add dry cocoa powder.

yeah....cocoa powder makes Wonderful chocolate buttercream!

cocoa powder - every time

I usually add about 1/4 cup to 1 lb of powdered sugar

so if i buy the wiltons white buttercream and add dry cocoa powder..it will work?!

I don't know about that Shar since I won't use the premade stuff. Hopefully someone else has a better answer for you or you'll have to experiment and let us know

I haven't tried the Wilton's buttercream either but I don't know why it wouldn't work. I'd try a small portion first to test it.

Hi Jeanelle, welcome!

You resurrected a really old post. The amount of cocoa powder you add is up to your own chocolate taste buds. You may have to add a few drops of liquid if you add larger amounts of cocoa.

Marie J commented a few replies before yours: "usually add about 1/4 cup cocoa to 1 lb of powdered sugar"

Are you trying to made premade white buttercream into chocolate? There are some really easy made from scratch recipes on this forum using cocoa powder, powdered sugar, butter/shortening and vanilla. You can do it!

Ditto.....and Chasey's all butter chocolate buttercream is the best tasting one IMHO!!
