Would someone please direct me to or answer for me, how many cake mixes to use for each layer of a 12", and also for a 10" cake. I have read the answer somewhere on this forum, but don't recall where.
Thanks in advance.

You can find all the answers here:

The amounts of batter are given in cups. Mixes make on average 4.5 to 5 cups of batter each. (A little more if you doctor them.) So, for example, if I'm making a 10" round cake I know I need 6 cups of batter. I'll make 2 mixes and use the excess for a little cake or for cupcakes.
