Bakers who have made sheet cakes with cake mix,

How many boxes (batches) of cake mix does it take for a 1/4 sheet and 1/2 sheet cake pan?

Thanks!

Wilton has awesome charts showing how many cups of batter are needed for each size pan, both 2" deep and 3" deep pans. You can find the chart that you need here:

http://www.wilton.com/cake/cakeprep/baking/times/index.cfm

When figuring number of mixes, keep in mind that most brands/flavors average about 4.5 cups of batter.

For a 1/4 sheet that is a 9 x 12, you'll need 1 1/2-2 cake mixes. For a 1/2sheet which is 12 x 18, you'll need 3 box mixes.
