I have 5 of them and I use them with 16 or 18 inch bags, no coupler. The smaller bags don't hold enough frosting and it gets messy. When I am doing a big wedding cake I fill all of them up and then I don't even have to stop and reload. Very, very, very worth the money. You learn this and get a demonstration of this the first night of Course one.

Lisa, I use the cake icer tip all the time. If you buy it, it will quickly become your best friend. I recommend using it with a 16" featherweight bag and cut it just for that tip. I have used mine for years. The bag has turned yellowish and all the print on it has long since disappeared, but it's still going strong. DSW

Oh my yes! The icer tip is MUCH more effective in getting frosting on thick and even than using a spatula. It is well worth the few dollars investment! You'll need a very large bag (16" or 18") and once you cut it it will be useful only with the icer tip. I keep my two icer bags and two icer tips in a zipped plastic bag so they are always together and ready to go. I wish every gadget I've spent a few bucks on earned its drawer space as well as this one.

I was just wondering if I should purchase the Cake Icer Tip. I was wondering if it really works a lot better than using a spatula. And if you use the Cake Icer Tip what kind of bag do you use with it?

I recently purchased the Icer Tip and love it. And I did buy the featherweight bag and the tip is a lot nicer to ice cakes.

You said use the featherweight bag, could you just use the disposable one and cut it to fit the tip?

You can, but I have found that the featherweight is better. Plus you don't have to try and cut a bag to fit every time. I use disposable bags for all my small colors, and featherweights for lots of icing.

Oh my goodness, I LOVE my icer tip, I also use a 16" (I think) feather-weight bag. I love this thing.....my husband on the other hand hates it, he says he'll just stick to icing the cakes the old way (dumping a bunch on top and working it out).
