Topic: Awesome gumpaste poinsettia cutters and veiner!
scubabaker 12/26/2010 8:15 PM
Hi, all.

I want to share an enthusiastic thumbs up for a set of poinsettia cutters and a veiner I purchased online from Jennifer Dontz at Sugar Delites (http://www.jenniferdontz.com).

The poinsettia in the attached picture was made using the 3-pc Poinsettia Cutter Set (Item ID CUT007) and Poinsettia Veiner (Item ID VEI006). I used the Nic Lodge gumpaste recipe and a variety of dusts.

So pleased with the results!

Stunning! How did you do the centre??
scubabaker 12/27/2010 11:16 AM
Thanks!

cakecrazy25, the center is a bunch of tiny flowers on individual wires. Each one starts with a small ball of gumpaste that is put onto a wire, indented slightly with an umbrella tool, and then gets 5-6 snips around the indented edge with tiny scissors. The dried flowers are dusted with yellow (and 2-3 with light green) tapering down to green at the bottom. I then used a tiny brush to dab on some straight Americolor Super Red gel coloring around the top edge.

I appreciate all of your positive feedback!

You got me, mmumsie. I wasn't moved to do a cartwheel, but I did let loose a squeal of delight and run to show my husband after nearly every step.

As for you, Kris, I think it would be a blast to visit and make flowers with you, but you wouldn't need me to show you how. With all you learned making roses and ivy in Jen's class, I'm sure you'd do a fantastic job using just her instructions!

To cupcake52 - are your letters from Tappits? They are beautiful! I am very curious about them but haven't had enough time to research using them. Great job!
