Here's the cake I made the RKT running shoe for. It's for a family member who runs in marathons. His wife asked for a simple sheet cake with a shoe drawn on it! Just couldn't do it!! I hope she doesn't mind!

It's 10" square WASC with BWBC with extra almond.
TFL!!

Very cool! Great job! I understand what you mean about being asked to do a simple cake and "upgrading" it! I rarely ever make a basic cake, I just can't stand it!

sweetgrandma, I don't know if you remember a little while back I posted for ideas about making a cake for my grandfather who was a runner his whole life and you mentioned this shoe cake and I remembered admiring it!!

I hope I can ask a couple questions about the shoe you made? How did you make the underlying structure out of RKT? Did you just mold it into a shoe or did you hollow out the part where the foot would go after it set? I'm a bit worried about the sides of the shoe being flimsy because they will be thin. Did you have that problem? I don't know if I'm describing myself well! Sorry. Also, did you do anything to the bottom of the shoe (just wondering if there is fondant under it?)

Thanks so much!!
