Topic: How do I make camo fondant?
Crazy bout cakes 10/09/2011 11:13 PM
My son is an avid duck hunter and about to turn 18, so I would like to make his birthday cake with a fondant as close to the "duck blind" camo as I can. This is the more modern camo that hunters wear today. I have seen lots of examples of the typical army camo (green & black), but this is a camo that is a little more intricate. Does anyone have any suggestions for the camo or any ideas for a duck hunting cake?

Check sugar teachers blog. Sharon Zambito has a camo tutorial on there

Thanks so much for the response & info! Her cake was amazing!! However, I think I'm looking for a needle in a haystack. He is an anal camo connoisseur! If I put army camo on his duck hunting cake, I know his first thought would be "Mama, that is not duck hunting camo!" A bit of a hunting, camo fashionista I guess...

It looked like she made a chart of the camo and cut out fondant to match. Copy the correct camo and cut out the individual pieces to get the effect you want. Don't forget to post pics of this special camo. I thought they were all the same. Good luck

That's a good idea! But yes, there is a difference in the army camo and hunting camo now and there many different patterns now that look nothing like that now. If it weren't for my husband and son, I wouldn't know either!
