I'm using fondant for the first time to make a bow atop a birthday cake for my 107 year old great Nana. I am making two presents stacked. I have made the loops with the fondant and want to put the bow together, but the fondant is taking a while to dry. Can anyone tell me approximately how long I need to wait before putting the whole bow together?

Fondant can take three or more days to dry, but if you mix some gumpaste 50/50 it dries within the day. Hope this helps you. Some people put it in a low oven to dry to, but I like the gumpaste added myself.

I've found that when making a bow, it's best to mix fondant and gumpaste since gumpaste dries a lot harder and faster. I know that's not really a help to you, but for the future ... I made a fondant bow once, and it was wobbly. I didn't use it. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I use 50/50 fondant and gumpaste mixed together. It will dry within the day.

Hopefully you added gum tex or gum paste to the fondant. It can take a good 24 hours to set.
