Hello Everyone,

This may seem a little silly, but I am slightly creatively challenged and have difficulty coming up with ideas on my own without looking at a picture! My question is what is an elegant way to decorate a cake table. I am making my sister's wedding cake for July and we are starting to think of how we want to decorate the hall. She has made me responsible for the cake table. Normally, when I decorate, especially rooms, I usually do what someone else tells me to do. Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions as to an elegant way to decorate the cake table? Her cake will have artificial roses on it, so I was thinking of decorating the base of the cake stand with a wreath-like thing of red roses, sprinkle the table with rose petals...maybe some votive candles? I don't want to overdo it either. What are some nice ways to decorate the table so it is noticeable and looks elegant and not tacky? Help!!!

Thanks in advance,
Candynurse

Hey CandyNurse
I always make sure the table is the appropriate size. Sometimes I will arrive on site and they will have a 8' round or a 10" round and I think it is way too big. I like to flounce with satin on the top or bottom. Votives are a nice touch also. I saw a really cute table that had ribbon that spoked out from the middle and draped over the edges in different lengths. They put a glass round on top to hold the ribbon in place. Depending on the cake size I could give you a better idea. Also if you wanted to pictures leave me an email!! Or email me direct.

Moydear is right...the right size table is key!! A nice satin table cover is nice. You could drape tulle around it. Candles (votives) are nice especially in the evening. I've seen candelabras, arches behind the table...silk greenery such as ivy etc...sparkles sprinkled on the tables, flowers, etc. The possibilities are endless!!

Thanks MaryAnn,

I plan on using the floating tiers stand, with cake sizes 14, 10 and 6. We are thinking of using ribbon to decorate the stand. I am not sure what size the cake table will be. I guess I can check with the hall. I would love to see pictures of tables you have done. My email is brenda_hill@hotmail.com

Thanks so much for your help,
Candynurse (Brenda).
