I'm having a party in two weeks and I want to make and freeze the cake balls ahead of time and then defrost them the day before the party to dip and decorate them. Has anyone does this? If so does it work? Should I put the sticks in the cake balls before I freeze them?

No! When the candy is in the freezer for too long it'll crack.

What I want to do is freeze the cake ball without frosting them.

I do this all of the time it is a great time saver. Remember to let the cake balls sit out for about 15 to 30 mins before dipping so the candy does not crack. Hope this helps.

I freeze my pops before icing them. I take them out as needed to decorate and then chill in refrigerator in Zip lock bags until I need them. Comes out perfect

Freezing the balls themselves works just fine. Good idea to defrost them the day before - then you're not worrying about condensation while dipping.

I've put pops in the freezer with the sticks in, but just long enough to set the chocolate, not for an extended time. I'm not really sure what would happen.

Best of luck with the party!
