I absolutely loved the basketweave technique. I will be using that one a lot, I think! So easy, and it really adds a different element to the cake.

Is the basketweave really easy?? It's looks difficult, but I love how it looks on a cake..I'm taking course2 now and will be doing basketweave in a couple of weeks...looking forward to it...hope it looks as good as your cake

SandyLee, the basketweave is WAY easier than it looks. It took me a minute to get the sequence down, but once you see how it works, it's really simple. It only took about ten minutes to do the entire outside of the cake once it was marked. Super easy, and I love how it looks. It also covers a multitude of frosting errors...I still can't frost a perfectly smooth cake, so the basketweave is great because it covers all my little booboos!

Basketweave is fun. My (so far only theoretical) challenge has been trying to figure out other weaves. I think I've figured out the sequences for 1-2 twill, 2-1 twill, and 2-2 (gabardine) twill. I'm going to have to play with these on cakes, of course...
