Topic: Quick drying fondant tricks

I was wondering if anybody knows of any tricks to drying fondant fast? Would sticking it on a cookie sheet in a low temp oven work? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Yes, I have kneaded in gum text already. Thanks!

Hhhmmmm.........I don't think an oven is your best bet. I recall a cake competition in Las Vegas once where the room temp of mid-70s played havoc with everyone's fondant ~ it tore, it drooped, it sagged, it basically melted off the cakes....... I'd try a fan blowing on it since it's air that drys it. I've not used gum tex in fondant just pre-made gumpaste and the higher percent of gum paste, the faster it will dry ~ many times too quickly and it begins to crack while you are still trying to create~

Thank you very much for your response, I will try a fan!

I point a small 6" fan on my pieces and turn them (if possible) in several hours to ensure they dry quickly.
The thickness can be a determining factor to time.

Aunt Tilly is correct, the more Gum Paste you use, the faster it dries. I usually use half fondant to half gumpaste and add color back if necessary.

Good luck!
