Do anyone know how i can make royal icing and regular icing without using hyrogenated oil? i need to make flowers and decorations. i was using crisco until i saw how greasy the container way. I tried butter but it seem to melt very fast...any suggestions..help

Royal icing has no fat in it, it is just powdered sugar, meringue powder, water and maybe a bit of flavoring.

Yeah, buttercream icing made with 1/2 shortening and 1/2 butter can be greasy, but if you beat the two together until they turn a creamy white (similar to sour cream) it isn't so bad.

Ok i will do that for the royal icing. so there is no way to make white icing like that without using shortening? Im not a health nut just trying to eat better.
