I have never before worked with fondant and am about to give it a try. I am wondering if I could use a container of store brand frosting to 'ice' the cake first. (compared to making a buttercream frosting from scratch) I can't imagine that it would have a negative impact on the project but would to know from others who have first hand experience. Many thanks.

I haven't tried it but I don't know why it wouldn't work. If you'll post this on "General Information" more people will see it and maybe give you an answer from their own experience. Not many people check this forum.
