Topic: Shark Bite! Cake

Has anyone made the shark bite cake? If so, is it necessary to use a pound cake recipe?
Thanks so much!

A firm texture cake will be best for that design. Pound cake certainly works. No one I bake for likes buttercream on a true pound cake, though. What I use instead is the "pound cake variation" on a cake mix. To a regular size cake mix add a small (4-serving size) of dry pudding mix -- regular or instant, but not sugar-free, and also increase the number of eggs by one. Use the amounts of oil and water called for on the cake mix box. This takes longer to bake than the plain cake mix. It produces a somewhat more firm textured cake.

When you finish your cake I hope you'll post it in the Life Celebrations forum!
