I had the same problems. I purchased the sugar and cutter ( with scallop) with excitement. Not what I expected. The cutter is nothing special . I was very careful with the sugar paper( yes took off plastic backing ) . The sugar paper cracked and when I also tried to just make a simple border . The paper was crumbling. Even had a hole in one strip! Better off cutting it yourself . You have the same tool press for gum paste in the class kits. I would not use sugar sheet again unless the paper is constructed better. It needs gel or something to make it more flexible . Also durable but tasty. From now on I will use RI or Fondant or gum paste . I even wanted to return the cutter. Wilton please improve this idea. Thanks!

I made this for my future daughter in laws wedding shower. The hearts need to be made at least a day ahead. Also the pink strips kept cracking even though I was very carefull to not let them dry out, they continued to crack after being put on the cake. Also the white hearts were disolving in my hands from the pipping gel while putting them on the cake. If I ever do this cake again, I think I will use icing instead of the pink sugar sheets.
