Bake and cool cake. Use knife to trim bottom crown detail
level. Use pattern and toothpick to mark mouth. Ice area
smooth in black; outline with tip 3. Use pattern to mark
nose. Cover remainder of cake with tip 21 stars.
Pipe violet nose using tip 2A; pat smooth with finger
dipped in cornstarch. Use pattern to mark teeth. Outline
and pipe in with tip 4; pat smooth.
Pipe tip 2A mounds for eyes; pat smooth. Pipe tip 12 dot
pupils; pat smooth. Pipe tip 1 veins on three eyes. Overpipe
tip 21 green stars above eyes for eyelids. Cut 25 licorice
strings, 1 3/4 in. long. Insert five into each eyelid for lashes.
Cut pretzel rods to make 3 1/2 in. long arms and 4 1/2 in. long
legs. From purple edible paper, cut 2 1/2 in. wide x 3 1/2 in.
long pieces for arms, 2 1/2 in. wide x 4 1/2 in. long pieces
for legs with rotary cutter. Wrap around arms and legs,
trimming as needed and securing with piping gel.
black edible marker to trace hand and foot patterns on
shiny side of purple and red edible paper; reverse patterns
for second cut. Attach hands and feet with tip 3 dots of
icing. Insert arms and legs.
The star tip creates the most celebrated, easily accomplished decorations! The serrated edges of the star tip make ridges in the icing as you squeeze it out. Because fill in requires so much piping from the same bag, keep replenishing icing in bag.
