Step 1

1 Day in Advance

Make candy shell base. Melt white Candy Melts candy according to package directions. Use blue color from primary candy colors set to tint melted white candy blue. Use brush and melted blue candy to make a candy shell, 1/4 in. thick, in standard baking cup.

Step 2

Make fondant water lily. For each treat, tint a 1 and 1/8 in. fondant ball rose/violet combination (for rose), a 3/8 in. ball lemon yellow/golden yellow combination (for yellow) and 1 oz. kelly green. Knead 1/8 teaspoon Gum-Tex into rose fondant.

Use 9 in. fondant roller to roll out rose fondant 1/32 in. thick. Use small daisy cutter from gum paste flower cutter set and rose fondant to cut four sets of petals for each lily. Place one petal set on thin shaping foam; store remaining petals under storage board flap until needed. Use large veining tool from 10-pc. gum paste/fondant tool set to score vein lines on petals. Let dry 1 hour in 2 1/2 in. flower forming cup dusted with cornstarch. Repeat for remaining petals.

Prepare thinned fondant adhesive following recipe directions. Use brush and thinned fondant adhesive to attach four petal sets together in 3 in. flower forming cup.

For flower centers, press a 3/8 in. ball of yellow fondant in dogwood center cavity (#6) of flower impression mat. Use thinned fondant adhesive to attach center to flower. Let dry overnight.

Step 3

Make fondant lily pads. Use 9 in. fondant roller with purple guide rings to roll out green fondant 1/8 in. thick. Use knife and pattern to cut lily pad. Let dry 1 hour on cornstarch-dusted board. Use spruce green Color Dust/lemon extract mixture to paint petal edges and details. Let dry 15 minutes.

Step 4

Day of Celebration

Assemble treats. Use thinned fondant adhesive to attach water lily to lily pad. Attach Dora The Explorer icing decoration to flower center.

Fill candy shell with candy-coated chocolates. Position lily pad.
