Turn any party into a palooza! Decorate a cake with a girl band formed from Mini Doll Picks refigured with fondant fashions; stage a grand finale by using our patterns and black fondant to create screaming-fans silhouettes.
2-3 days in advance: Prepare panels and stars. For panels, tint 12 oz. fondant violet. Add 1 teaspoon Gum-Tex. For stars, tint fondant: 3 oz. each rose, blue and yellow, 2 oz. each orange, green. Add 1/4 teaspoon Gum-Tex to each. Roll out 1/8 thick as needed. Use patterns to cut 1 large, 2 medium, 2 small back panels. Cut stars using cutters from set: with large, 1 each orange, yellow, rose, blue; with medium, 2 each orange, yellow, rose plus 1 blue; with small, 1 each yellow, pink, blue. Let dry 2 days on waxed paper-covered boards. Reserve excess fondant for figures.
To complete back panels: Brush panel edges and stars with Piping Gel and sprinkle on matching Colored Sugar. Assemble using thinned fondant adhesive. Attach Lollipop Sticks to back of panels; trim sticks, leaving 3 in. extended at bottom to insert into cake. Attach stars to panel edges. Cut name using Cut-Outs; attach to large panel. Let dry.
Also in advance: Decorate figures. Tint additional fondant: 2 oz. gray, 1 oz. golden yellow, 1/2 oz. light violet (mix small amount of
reserved violet with white to lighten); reserve 1 oz. white. Add 1/8 teaspoon Gum-Tex to each. Also use reserved
fondant. Roll out 1/8 in. thick as needed.
For lower body, begin with a 2 1/2 x 1 1/4 x 1/2 in. thick rectangle. Cut 2 in. slit for legs. Smooth edges and shape by hand. Cut Lollipop Sticks into 5 in. lengths. Insert into bottom of each leg, leaving 3 1/2 in. exposed. Let dry 2 days. Cut doll pick section to just 1/2 in. long; insert into lower body. Create assorted tops using a variety of colors and patterns. Roll fondant for base layers 1/8 in. thick, for trims just 1/16 in. thick. Attach to figures using Piping Gel. Secure ponytails with small lengths of wire. Attach fondant strips to cover wire and for pant cuffs, tiny logs for bracelets and necklaces. Roll 1/2 in. balls and shape into shoes; push onto sticks and attach to pants. Brush with Piping Gel and sprinkle on Cake Sparkle accents. Paint pants with Pearl Dust/vanilla mixture.
Bake and cool 2-layer cake (bake 1 1/2 in. layers for a 3 in. high cake).
Tint fondant: 24 oz. violet, 17 oz. black. Prepare and cover cake with violet fondant. Cut 12 in. diameter black circle; attach to cake top using damp brush. Use pattern to cut out 2 sets of silhouettes; attach to front of cake. For spotlight bases, roll out black 1/4 in. thick. Cut 8 circles using wide end of tip 3. Shape small cones and attach to back to prop up bases at an angle.
Roll out yellow 1/16 in. thick. Use narrow end of tip 2A to cut 8 lenses; attach to spotlights and slightly indent centers with rounded end of brush handle. Pipe tip 3 bead border between figures.
At party: Insert back panels and figures. Arrange spotlights.

My daughters and I had a wonderful time learning new techniques while making this cake for my grand-daughter. We flavored each color with a different candy flavorings like strawberry and mango. Be sure to give your fondant pieces enough time to dry. That seems to be the key. Have fun creating!
