Fine, delicate designs piped onto a cake are commonly referred to as "embroidery". Although some embroidered designs can be rather complex, the simple elegance of picot is easily achieved in freehand with a series of small, easy-to-pipe dots.
- Practice with tip: 67, 1
- Icing consistency: Thin Buttercream
- Bag Position: Slightly Less Than 90° at 6:00
- Hold tip: Lightly Touching Surface; Wide Opening Parallel To Surface
1. Starting at the bottom, using heavy pressure, hold bag stationary and pipe a tip 67 fern leaf. Working towards top, continue to pipe tip 67 leaves.
2. As you approach top, gradually decrease pressure with each fern leaf.
3. Add tip 1 dots and curled frond to complete.
