I can't believe that I waited this long to register for classes with Wilton. Why? I am blessed to finally get my hands at decorating. I have always wanted to make beautifully decorated cakes but just didn't have the know how. There were always excuses with the business of life but with my youngest son going to high school next school year, I realized that I can finally do something for myself. So register I did. I was pleasantly surprised with the courses and more so with our awesome teacher, Melanie Luna. She is such a good teacher, very knowledgeable, very giving, very patient and most of all very willing to share her skill. I definitely can make beautiful cakes for family and friends now, with confidence. In the long run, I wish to be able to do a little business with baking out of the comfort of home. That way, I can be home for my son when he gets back from school. The people I met at the classes were awesome too. Every single one of them are very talented. Totally just the best.

As long as I can remember, I have admired the photos of the beautifully decorated cakes on the Wilton boxes and magazines. I never imagined that I would ever be able to ice a cake nicely - let alone make a flower or a star. Recently, I was once again in the cake decorating aisle at Michaels - wistfully flipping through the pages of one of the cake books. I wondered if the supermarket would be able to make this or that beautiful cake for me. Then Kathy, the most wonderful woman, asked if she could help me. We began talking and she told me that she was the instructor and how easy the class was. She assured me I'd have fun and I'd fit right in - I bought Decorating Basics 1 and signed up. After the very first class I made a star... and it looked like a star! As silly as that sounds - I was hooked.

I started takeing Wilton Cake classes for something to do. Once I finished course one I was amazed at the finally cake that I created. After my first class I found my self looking forward to my class. The fondant rose is the favorite technique that I learned.

"When my youngest son, started his senior year in high school, I thought to myself, what can I do to fill my time after he graduates? After stumbling across, Wilton's book on cupcakes, I decided to take a class, just only one class. Well one class led to another class and then another before I knew it I had completed all four classes with an awesome teacher! That has been 2 years ago and since then, I have been doing cake "artistry" ever since. I am even considering taking just "one" of the newly revised classes. Who knows where that may lead! Thanks Wilton for the fabulous memories and the friendships along the way.

My best memory so far of the Wilton courses is learning how to make the Wilton rose with fondant. I have always wondered "how do those roses come out so beautiful?" I then went into a Michaels store and said to myself " I am going to take classes to learn how to make the Wilton rose." And I am so happy that I did. I first learned how to make the rose with decorating frosting, but what really took the cake and stole the show is when I went on to course 3. Course 3 showed me how to make the Wilton rose by mixing gum tex with fondant. It was the best part of course 3 for me.

I have always baked with my mom and loved it. I started making cakes for people I work with for fun and they didn't look very good. When Ace of Cakes came on TV I started experimenting more with cake but it still wasn's that good so I started taking the courses at Michaels. I liked it so much I took them all! Now that they classes have changed I'm taking them all over again. My cakes look so much better and everyone can tell. My work loves it because I experiment with new flavors and they get cake all the time. My teacher was great and taught us so much. I figured out how to do things correctly and why it didn't work before. I started making cakes as a side business and I have so many orders because of this class. Keep up the good work and classes! Its also a wonderful place to meet new people, we are taking the classes again together.

I took my first Wilton class completely on an impulse. I'd been baking for years, but never knew how to decorate the 'right way'. I had always iced/decorated with icing in a ziploc, with the corner cut off! My instructor was amazing - she was very helpful, patient and full of great ideas! All of a sudden, I had tools that would do cool things with icing! I was hooked. I took all 4 courses, and wanted more! I went on to become an instructor and have loved every minute of it! I love watching my students when they have that 'aha!' moment, when everything finally makes sense! Thank you, Wilton, for being there, providing great product, service, and instruction. I can't imagine who many lives you've touched!

I never thought of getting into baking never mind cake decorating, now this is all I've been doing for the last 3 mos.I started taking classes since March & I enjoy every minute of it plus my instructor is great-It makes huge difference.I’m really into it now.I wish I have all Wilton cake tools & tips.I plan to take all classes Wilton is offering even the ones I’ve already taken because of new added feature/techniques.I want to learn all of it & they will be good refresher course for me.I’ve learned so much that my instructor had asked me if I would consider teaching cake decorating someday I thought it’s the best compliment ever! I’ve done 15 cakes so far & gotten great compliments on them. I will also be doing my brother’s, sister’s wedding cakes & also my own wedding cake!I’m thankful that Wilton offers classes.I haven't learned how to do tiered cakes yet, but I followed the instrctns from the 2010 Wilton Yrbook.I had some struggles, but I did it anyways. Here it is the Pillow Cake!

After taking the Wilton Courses, I went from a cake destroyer to making prized cakes. The most important thing I learned was how to frost a cut cake. I used to have the cake crumble into pieces and fall apart while trying to frost it. Thanks to my instructor Kathy, we were told it was all about the icing. Ever since, I frost my cakes with ease, never to worry about the messes again. I have made many since then and every one of them has turned out beautifully.
