WILTON CASTLE CONTEST OFFICIAL RULES
HOW IT WORKS: Wilton invites you to submit an original photograph of a cake, cookie or dessert you have made utilizing the new Wilton Romantic Castle Cake Set. There will be twelve Finalists selected, one Finalist from each monthly entry period. The Grand Prize winner will be determined from among the twelve Finalists.
HERE'S HOW TO ENTER: Beginning 8/1/07, there will be twelve monthly entry periods. Online entries must be received by 11:59:59 PM (CT) on the last day of the month to be eligible for that month's entry period. Online entries must be received by 11:59:59 PM (CT) on 7/31/08 to be eligible for the final monthly entry period. Mailed entries must be received by the last business day of the month to be eligible for that month's entry period, with the exception of the final monthly entry period where mailed entries must be received by 8/7/08 to be eligible for the final monthly entry period. Entries will be judged only in the month in which they are received.
VIA INTERNET: Beginning 8:00 AM (CT) on 8/1/07, visit www.castlecontest.com or www.wilton.com and follow the online entry instructions to submit your entry. See castle and photograph requirements listed below. You will also need to indicate the name of your castle, list decorating tools you used and describe briefly how you decorated your castle (description will not be judged). Limit one entry per email address per day. You may enter more than once per monthly entry period; however, each submission must be different.
VIA MAIL: Beginning 8:00 AM (CT) on 8/1/07 through 7/31/08, visit www.castlecontest.com or www.wilton.com to print an Official Entry Form. On an Official Entry Form or on a plain piece of 8½" x 11" paper (one side only), type or clearly hand-print your complete name, date of birth (mm/dd/yyyy), street address (no P.O. boxes - U.S. residents only), city, state/province, zip/postal code, day & evening telephone numbers, email address, the name of your castle, list decorating tools you used and describe briefly how you decorated your castle (description will not be judged). Mail along with a photograph of your castle to: Wilton Castle Cake Contest, 2240 West 75th Street, MS #8, Woodridge, IL 60517 U.S.A. See castle and photograph requirements listed below. IMPORTANT: On the back of the photo, you should indicate (using a felt-tip pen or pre-printed label) your complete name, complete address and telephone number(s). Illegible entries are void. Not responsible for lost, late, mutilated, incomplete, illegible, postage due or misdirected mail. Limit one entry per envelope. You may enter as often as you wish but each entry must be different and submitted separately. Do not send your actual castle to the Sponsor.
CASTLE REQUIREMENTS: Castle must be made using the Wilton Romantic Castle Cake Set; a minimum of 5 pieces from the cake set must be incorporated into the design. Castles must be completely edible with the exception of the cake set pieces, separator plates, pillars, cake boards and any support dowel rods, including lollipop sticks.
Entries with plastic figurines and other non-edible items on the castle will be disqualified.
PHOTO REQUIREMENTS: The photograph must be in color; professional or studio photographs are not eligible. Photograph submitted online must be in JPEG format, 300dpi and saved as a 4" x 6" photo size. Photograph submitted via mail must be unframed, un-mounted and must be no smaller than 4" x 6" and no larger than 8" x 10". Slides or transparencies are not eligible. Photo/entry submissions must not display any commercial/corporate advertising (including but not limited to corporate logos, brand names, slogans, political, personal and religious statements) as determined by Sponsor, in its sole discretion. Each entry/photograph must be the entrant's original work that has not previously been published nor won a prize or award. Entries become the sole property of Sponsor and none will be returned.
JUDGING: Eligible entries received during each monthly entry period will be judged by a panel of sponsor representatives to determine (1) Finalist. Finalists will be notified by mail and/or telephone. The (12) Finalists will then be judged by a panel of experts to determine the Grand Prize winner. All judging will be based on the following criteria: overall appearance of cake - 33%, creativity of cake design - 33% and level/complexity of cake decoration - 34%. In the event of a tie, tiebreaker will be based on the highest score for "creativity."
PRIZES & APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUES: (12) Finalist Prizes - Finalist will receive his/her choice of one of the following prize options: Option A: Cupcakes Galore! - prize includes a 23-count Cupcakes-n-More stand, the Ultimate 3-in-1 Caddy and a set of 12 pastel silicone baking cups (ARV: $59.97); Option B: Castle Collection - prize includes one Enchanted Castle baking pan, one 5-lb tub of ready to use decorator icing (white) and a 53-piece decorating set (ARV: $54.97); Option C: Turn it Like a Pro! - a professional cake decorating turntable (ARV: $59.99). (1) Grand Prize - winner to attend a two-week Master Course at the Wilton School of Decorating and Confectionary Arts in Darien, IL U.S.A. Winner will receive round-trip coach air transportation from the major airport nearest winner's residence, hotel accommodations, ground transportation to/from airport/hotel and hotel/school and select course supplies (sponsor to specify). (ARV $9,000.00). All prizes valued in U.S. Dollars. Limit one Finalist Prize per person/household. Prizes consist of only the items specifically listed as part of the prize.
GENERAL RULES: Open only to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and Canada (excluding Quebec), who are 18 years of age or older as of date of entry. Employees of Wilton Industries, its respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion and internet agencies and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible. Wilton Method Instructors are eligible to enter. Void in Quebec and where prohibited by law. Participation constitutes full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Sponsor's and judges' decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to this contest. All entries submitted become the sole property of the Sponsor and none will be returned. No substitution or transfer of prize by winner permitted. All taxes and/or duties, if applicable, are the sole responsibility of winner. All federal, state, municipal, provincial and local laws and regulations apply. Potential Finalists will be required to complete an Affidavit of Eligibility certifying that the decorating show in submission was completed by the entrant, the entry/photo he/she submitted is his/her own original work and he/she holds all rights to the entry/photo, that the entry/photo has not been previously published, has not won a previous prize or award and that he/she has followed the Official Rules of the Contest. Additionally, Potential U.S. Finalists (or parent/legal guardian if potential Finalist is deemed a minor in his/her state of residence) will be required to complete a Release of Liability, Prize Acceptance Form and, if legally permissible, a Publicity Release. Potential Canadian Finalists (or parent/legal guardian if potential Finalist is deemed a minor in his/her province of residence) will be required to execute a Declaration and Release Form to release Sponsor and its agencies and representatives from liability with respect to contests and prizes. Grand Prize winner will be required to complete an IRS form W-9, W-8BEN or W-8ECI, as appropriate. All documents must be completed and returned within (3) days of attempted delivery of same. Noncompliance within this time period or return of any prize/prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and an alternate will be selected. Grand Prize winner must possess required travel documents (e.g., valid photo ID) prior to departure and must agree to depart and return on dates specified by the Sponsor; dates of departure and return are subject to change. Grand Prize winner must complete Master Course within one year of notification. Travel is subject to availability and certain blackout dates may apply. Submissions may not contain profanities or obscenities and may not in any way disparage persons or organizations associated with Sponsor. Sponsor/judges reserve the right in their sole discretion to disqualify any entry that, in their sole opinion, refers, depicts or in any way reflects negatively upon the Sponsor, the Contest or any other person or entity, or does not comply with these requirements or these Official Rules. Submissions must be suitable for presentation in a public forum, in sole determination of judges and/or Sponsor. Sponsor reserves the right to: (a) use entrant's name and likeness and publish all entries submitted, (b) alter, amend, edit or change entries prior to publication and (c) use, publish, reproduce, alter, amend and copyright for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation, unless prohibited by law. Sponsor reserves the right, at its discretion, to modify, adapt or reproduce the photo in full, or to crop the photo for reproduction. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize of equal or greater value. By accepting prize, winner (or parent/legal guardian if winner is a minor) agrees to hold Sponsor, its respective directors, officers, employees and assigns, harmless against any and all claims and liability arising out of use of prize. Winners (or parent/legal guardian if winner is a minor) assume all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, by participation in this promotion or use or redemption of any prize. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission to the Sponsor and its agencies to use winner's name and/or likeness for purposes of advertising, trade and editorial (print and broadcast media) without further compensation, unless prohibited by law. By participating in this promotion, entrants (or parent/legal guardian if entrant is a minor) agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the decisions of the judges which are final. Sponsor, affiliates, subsidiaries and agencies are not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing, the offering or announcement of any prize or in the administration of the promotion. In the event there is a discrepancy or inconsistency between disclosures or other statements contained in any promotional materials and the terms and conditions of the Official Rules, the Official Rules shall prevail, govern and control. In no event will more than the stated number of prizes be awarded.
NOTICE TO ONLINE ENTRANTS: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS PROMOTION IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS, AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. Not responsible for faulty, incorrect or mistranscribed phone transmissions, incorrect announcements of any kind, technical hardware or software failures of any kind including any injury or damage to any person's computer related to or resulting from participating in or experiencing any materials in connection with the promotion, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmission that may limit a user's ability to participate in the promotion. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify the promotion if fraud, misconduct or technical failures destroy the integrity of the program; or if a computer virus, bug, or other technical problem corrupts the administration or security of the program as determined by Sponsor/judging agency/administrator, in their sole discretion. In the event the online entry portion of the Contest is terminated, a notice will be posted online and all eligible online entries received prior to termination and all eligible mailed entries received will be judged per Rule #3. Any damage made to the Web Site will be the responsibility of the authorized e-mail account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. Proof of submitting entries will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by Sponsor. Any use of robotic, automatic, programmed or the like methods of participation will void all such submissions by such methods. Sponsor reserves the to prohibit the participation of an individual if fraud or tampering is suspected or if the individual fails to comply with any requirement of participation as stated herein or with any provision in these Official Rules
WINNERS: Finalists names will be posted online periodically throughout the program. Grand Prize winner's name will be posted online beginning on/before 9/1/08. Visit www.wilton.com through 10/31/08 for winners' names. Or, send a separate, stamped, self-addressed #10 envelope to Wilton Castle Cake Winners, 2240 West 75th Street, MS #8 Woodridge, IL 60517 U.S.A, to be received by 9/1/08. Canadian residents need not affix return postage.
