Make candle flames in advance. Use fondant roller with purple guide rings to roll out yellow 1/8 in. thick. Use smallest leaf Cut-Out to cut flame. Let dry 1 to 2 hours.

Use knife to cut strips, each 2 in. x 1 1/2 in. Use damp brush to brush back of fondant. Starting at the edge of 2 in. side, wrap the fondant around cut cookie stick, leaving 1/8 in. of stick extended at top for flame. Gently press down on fondant to smooth and shape top of candle. Leave approximately 1 1/2 in. of the cookie stick extended to insert into cupcake.

Make cupcakes. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool cupcakes.
Decorate cupcakes. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Use spatula and icing to ice tops of cupcakes smooth. Insert fondant candles into cupcakes. Use icing to attach flame to extended cookie stick on top of candle.
