This happy clown adds instant excitement when he pops into the party! He?s easy to make! Just cut cake circles and make icing to fill our fun-to-eat Treat Pops, then add colorful trims such as candy and a birthday hat topper.
Make cake circles. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Tint one half of batter sky blue and remaining half light brown. Bake and cool cakes. Use knife to level cakes to 1/2 in. high.
Use smallest round cutter (1 3/4 in.) from set to cut two blue and two brown cake circles for each treat.
Assemble treat pops. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Tint portions sky blue and light brown. Push one blue cake circle into bottom of treat pop. Use tip 2A and blue icing to pipe a swirl of icing from back edge following the curves of the container, then filling the center. Repeat to add one layer of blue cake and one layer of brown icing, then two layers of brown cake and icing. Cover container with top cap. Assemble birthday hat topper according to package directions. Position topper.
Make clown. Use scissors to cut a 1 3/4 in. circle from bottom of green baking cup. Slide cup onto outside of treat pop for collar. Use scissors to trim collar to 3/8 in.
Use brush and piping gel to attach trims to side of treat pop unless otherwise noted. Attach candy eyeballs, red mini candy-coated chocolate nose and chocolate nonpareil button.
For mouth, use scissors to cut licorice string, 3/4 in. long; shape into a curve and attach.
For hair tufts, melt red Candy Melts candy according to package directions. Mix 1 1/2 teaspoons shredded coconut with 1 teaspoon melted red candy for each treat. Shape into small clusters on parchment paper. Chill until firm, 3 to 5 minutes. Use melted candy to attach to treat pop.
