Additional Information

Easy to color; perfect for writing messages and adding decorative accents.

Try these other uses for piping gel: Stabilized whipped cream (whip pint heavy whipping cream to soft peak stage, add 2 tablespoons piping gel and continue to whip to stiff peaks), glaze fruit and baked goods; crumb coat cakes before covering with rolled fondant.

Tinting - For best results, use Wilton Icing Colors. Blend color well before using. With spatula, blend in figure 8 motion to minimize bubbles. Tint any color you wish. To maintain true colors, use on cakes iced white.

Writing - For a quick and easy message, write with tinted Piping Gel in a parchment or decorating bag and tip #2 or #3.

Clear Piping Gel is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from During the Christmas season I used piping gel to transfer a specific picture of a puppy on a cake I made for the staff of my local Vet Clinic. I found I had to tint it a bit for it to show on white icing. I did and it was so easy to fill in the picture. It turned out real nice. The clinic thought it was so cute. Piping gel is so helpful when you find a picture of something that you would like to put on a cake. I have used pictures from coloring books. Piping gel is one helpful product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Last summer I wanted to make a pool theme cake and used Wilton's "The Water's Fine" idea and directions. What I loved the most was the realistic water. Being little more than a novice I had no idea what I was doing but with this piping gel and some of the blue coloring, added to tinted blue buttercream frosting, you can instantly create "waves" and ripples of water on the cake. Best of all the price is super low so its easy to keep it stocked. Really great product that adds dimension!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't take color well. My black showed up purple despite adding more coloring (and I did use wilton coloring). It also does not taste great and even after a vigorous mixing, I have small ball like clumps that did not take color. Not nice having clear balls throughout my piped gel. Does not help cakes look professional.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I have decorated cakes in a store so I am familiar with gels. The consistency was blotchy and the color uneven. I used Wilton colors too. I'm so upset I'm not going to bother charging the friend who wanted me to make her mom's birthday cake. I tried to get it to work but it just wouldn't do it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this! I use piping gel on tons of cakes. I use it to make water on cakes. I made a frog's paradise cake with frogs jumping into water off lily pads and used piping gel colored with royal blue icing and made it wavy with and angled spatula. My sister loved her cake. It tastes good too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really like this stuff. I add some blue color to it and it looks just like water and adds a an extra pop to the cakes. I also added red and a little black and it looked just like blood for a Halloween cake. It was really cool...and gross but the kids loved it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have been decorating cakes for my family for 30 years and had never tried piping gel. It is great for using to transfer patterns, as well as to apply a clear color. Take the decorating basics class to learn more about it. It's great!
