Fill the decorating bag with Round Decorating Tip 12 and fill 1/2 full with medium consistency yellow icing. Hold the bag and tip at 90° angle, slightly above the surface of your cupcake.
Pipe a large ball for head with yellow icing. Holding bag and tip at a 45° angle pipe a large bead body. Pipe Round Decorating Tip 5 dots for cheeks.
Add Decorating Tip 352 pull-out beak with orange icing between cheeks. Pipe two leaf shapes, one on the top and the other on the bottom to form the complete open beak.
Add Decorating Tip 352 pull-out hair and wings with yellow icing, overpiping wings for added dimension. Start piping wing tip first (furthest point), then move back towards body and pipe additional leaf "feathers", filling in as needed.
Pipe Round Decorating Tip 1 dots for eyes and inside mouth with black icing.
A great party pick. You can pipe the royal icing fruit in advance, including stems and leaves. At serving time, just position as needed on your iced cake or cupcake. Or make your fruit directly on your cake in buttercream icing.
