Candy flowers in bright colors spread sunshine anytime! With Candy Melts candy and our petal pattern, piping the perfect petals is easy! Just attach to your iced cupcakes and add mini chocolate chipps for the center.
Make petals. Melt pink, orange and yellow Candy Melts candy, separately, according to package directions. Use pink from garden candy color set to brighten melted pink candy.
Tape pattern to board and cover with parchment paper. Use melted pink, orange or yellow candy in cut decorating bag to outline petals. Chill until firm, about 1 to 3 minutes. Use matching melted pink, orange or yellow candy in cut parchment bag to fill in petals. Tap to smooth and remove air bubbles. Chill until firm, about 5 to 10 minutes. You will need five petals for each treat; make extras to allow for breakage.
Make cupcakes. Prepare cupcake batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool cupcakes.
Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Use spatula and white icing to ice cupcakes smooth, mounding slightly.
Assemble treats. Use spatula to gently remove petals from parchment. Position petals, smooth side up, on cupcake top in a flower formation. Position mini chocolate chips for center.
The way your decorations curl and point and lie depends not only on the icing consistency but also on the way you hold the bag and the way you move it. Bag positions are described in terms of both angle and direction.

This was a quick way to decorate cupcakes and to use my inventory of Candy Melts. In the instructions, I was confused to whether I should have two bags (of each color melt) or just one to create the outline and fill in the petal.
