Torting the Cake

Splitting the cake layer horizontally in half adds extra height to the cake, giving a place to add fillings for a special look and taste.


Step 1

Torting is easy with this tool—just follow the same directions as Leveling,

Step 2

Place one hand on top of the layer so that you can rotate the Decorating Turntable. Hold the serrated knife in the other hand with the middle of the blade positioned midway up the side of the layer. While slowly turning the layer, move the knife back and forth to cut the layer in two.

Step 3

To separate layers, carefully slide the top torted layer onto a Cake Circle. Repeat the process for each additional layer.
