Is it a girl or a boy? Keep your friends and family guessing with these lovely Boy or Girl Baby Shower Cookies. With several designs to choose from, these new baby cookies are a great way to practice your piping and decorating skills. Mix and match icing colors and create a lovely cookie display that is sure to keep everyone in the dark about your baby!
Make cookies. Prepare and roll out cookie dough following
recipe directions. Use circles nesting metal cutters to cut cookies in
all four sizes. Bake and cool cookies.
Flow in cookies. Prepare Color Flow icing following recipe
directions. Tint half brown/Christmas red/black combination
(for brown). Divide other half into four portions. Tint portions
kelly green, rose, royal blue and lemon yellow/golden yellow
combination (for yellow).
Use tip 3 and full-strength green, rose, blue or yellow icing to
outline cookies. Reserve remaining icing. Let set 1 to 2 hours.
Reserve 2 to 3 tablespoons full-strength brown; thin remainder.
Use thinned brown icing in cut disposable bag to flow in centers.
Let dry 24 hours.
1 DAY IN ADVANCE
Make center designs. Use 9 in. fondant roller with purple
guide rings to roll out white fondant 1/8 in. thick. Use sharp knife
and patterns to cut out designs. Brush back of design with damp
brush and attach to cookie.
Complete designs. Use tip 3 and reserved full-strength green,
rose, blue or yellow icing to outline designs with scroll details at
points. Use tip 3 and reserved full-strength brown icing to print
words. Use full-strength green, rose, blue or yellow icing and tip 3
to pipe assorted dots; flatten with fingertip dipped in cornstarch.
